    School Name: Magdalena High School

    Area of Science:Mechanical Engineering

    Project Title: Optimal Springs

Abstract
Interim
Final Report

Our program will get user information and design a spring that is optimal for the user's application. This will be determined based on the user's specifications and a series of equations. Depending on the use of the spring, many things vary such as the width of the coils, the thickness of the coils, the number of coils and the arc of the coils. Our program calculates the best design and structure of the spring for their desired purpose.

We will research the mechanics of springs and develop the equatins for calculating the variables. We will work in conjunction with a mechanical engineer to understand the scientific principles behind our program. THen we will write our computer program that models the movement of the spring and determines the optimal design.
