    Project Title: Pi Cryptology

Abstract
Interim
Final Report

We intend to write a program to encrypt messages using the irrational number pi. The user will enter their message and activate the program. The individual letters would be replaced with a number series, which would be squared and multiplied by pi (3.145…). They could then send the encrypted message to someone with the decryption program, which would reverse the encryption (we may plan to write the decryption program after we finish the encryption program). We might even include the ability to select the number of decimal places you could take pi to. That should make it much more difficult to decrypt. If Pi proves to difficult we may decide to use the Fibonacci number sequence. If we get either to work we may compare the security to that of industry standards. We would also time the encryption and decryption processes to see if the time needed is practical.
