Abstract

Final Report

Problem Definition:
The U.S. has a massive population. The nation's people use transportation to get where they need to, use resources to help them throughout the day. We will see economical and social scenarios to try to live a day or a month without the outside world disturbing them. We will see how well they will produce and live within a confined environment.

Problem Solution:
We will do this by evaluating our own families and what we do to get things accomplished on a day to day basis. We will discover what the actually needs of basic survival are. We will also find out of how some families deal with the problem of not getting what they need to survive. We will study the anxiety they go through. What they do to substitute what they cannot get. The mind is what we are more concerned about. We are making a mathematical equation to compare what really goes on in the mind of the head of the household to get what is needed. To do this, we developed a model using the Starlogo program, in which we isolate a family to live an everyday life, cut off from the outside world, to see how they will try to make ends meet. They will collect food to survive.

Progress To Date:
We have gained information on population and have compared it to our model. The results were slightly different from our data. We have compared the Starlogo model to our own family and found out that the Starlogo model uses less resources.

Expected Results:
We expected the data to be close to the results that we came up with while evaluating our own family on a day-to-day basis. The family unit will probably use less resources throughout the day to meet their basic needs.
