Project Title: Modeling Solar Systems
A stable solar system is important for any form of life. Organisms
cannot grow or develop unless they have a stable place to do so.
Our project will simulate different types of solar systems, varying the
parameters in the simulations. Using these simulations, we will discover
which of these systems fall apart or pull together, and also which ones
remain stable for a long period of time, for at least a billion years. We
also want to analyze the characteristics of stable systems and of their
planets, such as the positions and orbits they fall into. We will test
the simulation on our own solar system as well, to see how much longer it
will remain stable. Using this data, scientists could analyze distant
solar systems and discover their characteristics without observing them
directly.
