AiS Challenge Team Abstract team #075
Team Number: 075
School Name: Santa Fe High
Area of Science: Forensic osteology
Project Title: Mathematical Applications in Forensic Osteology
Our project will mathematically model the determination of age,
race and sex based on data input from skeletal remains. This application
will make it possible to assist in identifying the remains of victims of
crime or accident in which only the skeleton remains. It allows easier
entry and quicker notification so that identification of the subject may
be sooner. The program will allow information concerning the shapes and
biometrics of the bones to be entered. The output of the program will be
the sex, race, and range of ages of the subject. Dental records, records
of broken bones and mineral content may also be included in the program if
time permits. The computer is necessary due to the number of variables
that must be entered.
