AiS Challenge Awards

In addition to being an educational experience, the Challenge is a competition for those who wish to compete. It is designed to encourage students to perform at the highest possible level. While we recognize that many first-time participants may feel as though they cannot compete with more experienced students, there are many levels of recognition that can be attained for participants of all level

The following awards are anticipated for this year:

Team Project Awards

  • First Place Students & Teachers: Trip to NASA Ames Research Center of Excellence for each student and sponsoring teacher on the team.

  • First Place Students: Each student on the team will receive a $1,000.00 Savings Bond.

  • Second Place Students: Each student on the team will receive a $500.00 Savings Bond.

  • First & Second Place Teachers: The schools sponsoring the first and second place teams will each receive a donation of computer equipment for the teachers of the winning teams to use in their classroom.

    Note: Should the team have more than one teacher, the Challenge will provide one set of equipment to be shared by the teachers.
  • First Honorable Mentions (4 teams): Each student and sponsoring teacher on the team will receive a $100.00 Gift Certificate.

  • Second Honorable Mentions (6 teams): Each student and sponsoring teacher on the team will receive a $50.00 Gift Certificate.

 

The following are anticipated as additional awards consisting of trophies and/or plaques:

  • Judges Special Recognition - NM Technet

  • Microsoft Best Use of Office Award - Microsoft

  • Poster Contest - NM Technet & LANL

    • Technical Poster (Display Board) - $100
    • Graphical Poster - $100 (maybe $200)

  • Teamwork - NM Technet

  • Best Written Report - Society for Technical Communications

  • Best Professional Presentation - Albuquerque Tribune

  • Electronic Search and Browse - New Mexico CHECS

  • High Performance Computing - Cray

  • Creativity and Innovation - Sandia National Laboratories

  • Environmental Modeling - LANL

  • Multimedia - KRQE-13

  • Best HTML Version of a Final Report - LANL

  • Teachers' Choice

  • Students' Choice
