Area of Science: Engineering

Project Title: Transportation

Our team has been researching and trying to find a way to reduce the problems caused by transportation such as air pollution. So far our team has decided to do some more research and find some ways to improve the fuel economy. The fuel needs to meet environmental clean air standards while allowing efficient operation of the vehicle. We found a web site that provides information on fuels and fuel economy, http://www.transportation.anl.gov/ttrdc/fuels/index.html. This site deals with fuel and more; they test it in Heavy-Duty Trucks and Engines, measuring exhausts and engine performances.

One other solution is to build a car that is solar-powered. Although the drawback to that is it wouldn't be able to run at night or on a cloudy day, the advantage would be that it will cut down the air pollution on the Earth and to the Ozone Layer. It may have limits to it, but it could reduce air pollution.

Another way to deal with the transportation problem is to build a car that can run with a better fuel and be a solar-powered vehicle at the same time. Doing this to a vehicle could help the environment very much. It could be powered by solar during the day and at night by the improved fuel.

As far as the body of the vehicle, it may look a little strange by today's standards, but that shouldn't be a problem. We think the vehicle would be very cool, not to mention the striking innovation of the vehicle.
