Project Title: Centralized Emergency Response

In the past, centralized systems have greatly improved the efficiency, effectiveness, and speed of important agencies such as the army. This top-down system in which information is collected by individual members of the group, sent back to the top echelons, and analyzed to determine the best response to a given situation can be used to improve the efficiency of a response effort to a crisis. Unfortunately, many domestic emergency response departments do not utilize this system to the degree that they could. Although the various departments have excellent internal and external communication, our team proposes to design a system in which all of the domestic emergency response departments would be linked together through a single centralized server.

We will create a program that breaks the problem in to four manageable parts: the environment, the civilians in the city, the response units, and the disaster itself. We will use stochastic modeling to depict the civilians and their environment, statistic modeling to depict the disaster, and a basic type of AI to coordinate the emergency response. During the actual coding, we realize that we have to make simplifying assumptions in order to begin this complicated project, and we hope to later add in more complexity and fidelity. In the end, we hope to create an accurate simulation of the disaster and response, an intuitive graphical interface, and a detailed statistical analysis to codify the outcome of our program.
