Project Title: Peer Pressure
Our project is on peer pressure. Peer pressure is when people your own age try to influence how you act. It’s generally common among teenagers. We chose a topic which has personal meaning.
Common peer pressure situations deal with the use of drugs, alcohol, school grades, bullies and just basically doing things that you know is wrong and something you don’t want to do. It also comes from a desire to belong.
Our project is to find the causes of peer pressure along with the affects. We want to see if teenagers recognize the presence of peer pressure. We hope to help teenagers become aware of its presence and also show them ways to cope, without giving in.
We plan to use our school as an example of peer pressure. There are many “groups” with different perspectives. We will ask questions and conduct surveys. Then we hope to, in some way, acknowledge its presence among the school and to show the negative and positive outcomes.
