The Mystery Behind the Addiction to Cigeretts

Team: 28

School: CAPSHAW MID

Area of Science: Heath

Proposal:
________________________________________
Proposal: Cigarettes are a highly addictive and a dangerous habit that can lead to many deadly illnesses. The World Health Organization constantly warns people against smoking. Most people start smoking at a very young age and before they know it, they are too addicted to quit. The nicotine in cigarettes is often the man behind the mask that causes addiction and a rush of pleasure.

In our project, we are researching the genetics disposition behind nicotine addiction. We will use StarLogo to model how people’s genes react to nicotine in their systems. We plan to make our model to become as accurate as possible within the limitations of our knowledge of using StarLogo.

We will research cigarette smoking by looking at different generations of smokers and non-smokers. Our model will be based on this research.
