Participants are encouraged to approach Los Alamos from the East via NM 502. The directions below will guide you the rest of the way.
To the EXPO
The Expo will be held in the Los Alamos Research Park Building where the New Mexico Consortium Main Offices are located at 4200 W. Jemez Road, across the street from the Los Alamos National Laboratory.
To reach the Research Park Building continue on NM 502 towards Los Alamos. As you enter Los Alamos, stay on NM 502 (which is Trinity Drive). Continue on Trinity, and take a left upon reaching the intersection with Diamond Drive. Follow Diamond Drive over the bridge staying the right hand lane. Immediately after crossing the bridge, take the right turn that wraps up and around into the lower parking lot.
We suggest you park in the Lower parking lot, to avoid having to go through the Vehicle Access Points (VAPs) to go onto Laboratory property. Other parking locations are described here.
Walk to the Research Park building and go to the Learning Center on the second floor.
Participants Arriving Sunday Evening: To reach the Wingate by Wyndham continue on NM 502 (towards Los Alamos) at the NM 502 / NM 4 junction. As you enter Los Alamos, stay on NM 502 (which is Trinity Drive), the Wingate is across from Ashley Pond in the center of town.
Participants Arriving Monday: Go to Los Alamos National Laboratory per directions below and after the Expo, tours and reception at the Bradbury Science Museum, go to the Wingate by Wyndham.
Teams spending Monday night in Los Alamos will stay at the Wingate.
To return to town after the Expo and tours, you will need to continue on Diamond Drive (which turns into East Jemez Road) and get into the left lane to make a U-turn and the first light. Cross back over the Los Alamos Canyon bridge, staying in the right lane and get onto Trinity Drive to head to the hotel, or to the Bradbury Science Museum, 1450 Central Avenue, for a reception from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
Judges and Staff will be staying at the Holiday Inn Express:
To reach the Expo Monday morning from the Wingate leave the hotel and head West on Trinity Drive (towards the Jemez mountains). Continue on Trinity, and take a left upon reaching the intersection with Diamond Drive. Follow Diamond Drive over the bridge staying the right hand lane.
Vehicle Access Portals (VAPs) will allow or restrict access in a graded approach as dictated by the DOE/NNSA Security Condition (SECON) levels in effect at the site or as otherwise directed by Los Alamos National Laboratory management. Below is an image of the current traffic pattern.
BUSES WILL NEED TO USE THE RIGHT MOST OPEN LANE (lane 6), so that the guards can board the buses for inspection, if necessary.
Follow the traffic into the VAP and STOP. The driver will need to show their picture ID (driver's license) to proceed on through. You'll be coming from the top of the map below.
Continue on West Jemez Road through the first signal (Diamond Drive). At the next stoplight (just past the fire station, #41 on the map), turn left onto Casa Grande Drive. There might be parking available in the parking garage (the small red area), but probably not after 8:30 am. If you don't find parking there, you can drop off passengers and poster boards in front of the Research Library, number 207 on the map, (just south of the parking garage) and then head to the General Parking area off of Diamond Drive (the large red area below). Follow the green path to walk to the Research Library.
Participants arriving Monday Morning: To reach the Expo, continue on NM 4 (towards White Rock) at the NM 502 / NM 4 junction. Continue on NM 4 until the first stop light. Turn right here onto East Jemez Road (the truck route). Continue on East Jemez Road to the VAPs as described above, you'll be coming from the right on the map above. Go through the Diamond Drive intersection and turn left at the signal (Casa Grande Drive) just past the fire station, #41 on the map. There might be parking available in the parking garage, but probably not after 8:30 am. If you don't find parking there, you can drop off passengers and poster boards in front of the Research Library, number 207 on the map, (just south of the parking garage) and then head to the General Parking area off of Diamond Drive (see map above). Follow the green path to walk to the Research Library.
Activities will take place in the J. Robert Oppenheimer Center (aka the Research Library).
To the Tuesday morning Awards Ceremony

From the Holiday Inn Express and the Wingate, go west to Diamond Drive and take a right then go 1.2 miles north to the church building which is on the left at 2323 Diamond Drive.
From outside Los Alamos, follow NM 502 (Trinity Drive) through town and turn right onto Diamond Drive and go 1.2 miles north to the church building which is on the left at 2323 Diamond Drive.
A lunch will follow the Awards Ceremony.
