Project Title:

Linkage Maps for Genomic Research

We have a code called CRI-MAP which is designed to create linkage maps for the bioinformatics industry. However, the code is not designed to run the big, complex, problems which make up a large percentage of the demand for the program. We intend to modify the code to make it run in parallel with high scalability on symmetric multiprocessors (SMP's) so that it can rapidly create large linkage maps for genomic research. After being modified to run in parallel on SMP's, it will be able to be used on disease loci, and other chromosome related research.

We will spend the first part of the project doing research into the bioinformatics field. We will then analyze CRI-MAP to determine exactly how it works; at this point we will begin to modify the code.
