GOOD QUESTION!

Our 1997-98 supercomputing project is based on plotting destinations in space. This requires a supercomputer because the applied math consists of numbers too large to process on a normal desktop PC. We hope to start with a planet in our solar system. We know that these distances will not require a supercomputer, however, if one was to go beyond our known solsr system, a supercomputer would prove to be a dire necessity. These ventures into space were inspired to our team by work on the Russian space station MIR, and the recent success of the Mars Pathfinder. We believe that exploration in space is an area that will prove extremely important in the near future, effecting everyone, even those not directly involved. We hope to create a program effective in recognizing a point in space, predicting estimated time of arrival, and displaying precise energy usage. If successful, this program may prove to be a very valueable addition to the "Space Race".
