Project Title:

A New Development in Agriculture

Many agriculturist ask themselves if cold water is preventing their cattle from gaining their expected weight during the winter months. It is harder for cattle to gain weight in the winter months because they have to burn valuable calories to heat the water they drink. The purpose of this project is to determine if installing water heating devices is beneficial to maintain a gradual rate of gain during the the winter months for bovine species. We are to determine the efficiency of heating the water as opposed to using more feed. This method, which may prove to be cost efficient, will be accomplished by determining the factors that affect bovine weight and loss. If the results indicate that the use of water heating devices is both beneficial in maintaining weight gains and is cost-efficient, it would be invaluable for those engaged in cattle feeding operations.
