Project Title:

Solar Energy

Today many renewable resources are being used in our commmunites. There is wind power, which use mills to trun a turbine, there is also waterpower using the same concept but using waves to turn the generator. There is also solar energy, which has been sued not just to create heat, but also to create electricity.

There are many uses for the Sun today. The Sun has been used in the past for a reliable resource of energy. Solar power was used in the late 1890s, it was used to power water heaters to warm houses. It can also be used to make electricity for a house and the communities around us. One of the uses of the Sun is Solar Thermal Electricity, Which useds the heat to channel it though panels to make heat which make steam that turns a turbine.

The ohter way of comverting the Suns rays into electricity is using Photovoltaic Energy(Solar Cells). THis idea is being used on calculators and spacecraft. It was first developed in the 1950s for satellites. The cells are sued to create an electical current from a reaction. This power can be also stored in batteries for later use.

Solar Energy has been around for many years and is being used greatly today as a substitute for nonrenewable sources of energy.
