The Effect of El Nino on Ute Lake
This year, for the Supercomputing Challenge, we decided to devise a plan to stop the flooding of Ute Lake. Our first step will to be gather facts concerning the amount of water that is held withihin the lake. Our second step is to decide what specific question will be answered through the course of the program. This is useful to allow the people of Logan to better understand the effects of El Nino or what effect another serious storm could have on the lake. Our final step would be to produce a plan to show the various effects that a serious storm might have on the lake: (a) the amount of rain we recieve, (b) the intensity of the storm, and (c) the rete at which it evaporates. A comparison will be made between the rain fall of a normal year and rainfall during the El Nino year. Our project is useful because the information can be used in computer simulation techniques.
