Project Title:

The affect of population growth on southern New Mexico water supply

A mathematical model comparing population growth to water usage will be developed. After communicating with the State Office of Engineers, it was decided that to use the entire state population for our model, would be too large of a task; thus, this model will be using a smaller population of New Mexico. This project will gather data of the population growth and the water level in Grant County, Silver City area. Using this model as a sample of what is going on in the entire state of New Mexico, it is hoped that ti will help explain how the predicted population growth of 650,000 by the year 2015 will affect the water usage in New Mexico.
