The goal of this project is to determine what type of hardware, software and equipment that will be necessary to network our school. Our school consists of six buildings we are going to network.

A group of students researched the type of wiring, cabling, servers, hubs, etc. that would be needed to complete this project. Another group counted the number and types of computer hardware available at this time in our school system.

We found that we had approximately 75 computers in the elementary building and 70 in the high school building. With these numbers we could determine how much cabling would be needed to make the necessary connections. We also contacted a network technician to get some feedback concerning our calculations and also the type of other equipment we had decided on.

We presented our results to the school board and they were extremely interested in our project. We need to incorporate the computer to complete our calculations. The school board indicated they would like to have another presentation by us when we have the final results of this research completed.
