The fuel mix is one variable that will have to be determined whether the engine will be running on gas (eighty seven octane) variable G or alcohol (one hundred ten octane) variable A. Second, the size, shape, and weight of the piston variaable P. Third, the rpm (revolutions per minute) whether the cam is for low end or high end torque on the rpm range variable Rp. Fourth, the actual firing point determines the amount of horse power created by the engine for example, a hemi (hemispherical combustion chamber with the spark plug firing in the center of the piston) variable H creates more horse power than a wedge (slanted combustion chamber with spark plug coming in from the side) variable W.
A displacement in cubic centimeters as a variable you have to set along with rpm, then the program would show what a listing parts would have to be used with these figures in order to build an engine for maximum horse power, and have it state the horse power variable Hp and pound feet of torque variable T. With these variables the equation Hp = (H or W) * (P / (A or G) / Rp). Other variables unaccounted for may arise and thus change the equation.
In conclusion, this program would design an engine for the use in a vehicle in hopes of practicality in mileage. With the environment getting much worse such an engine is needed in this day. No matter what engine you build and run on gas it will always pollute that is why alternative fuels are trying to be made or found. It may not solve the problem but it might be part of the solution.
