Challenge Team Abstract
The topic of our project is exploration of the death of stars. We will develop a computer program to predict what various stars will become after varying their solar mass, diameter, and chemical composition. Using Chandrasekhar's limiting mass and equations involving subatomic physics, astrophysics, and quantum physics, we will determine if each model star becomes a white dwarf, a brown dwarf, a neutron star, a pulsar, or a black hole. These scenarios will all be modeled and computed using a supercomputer. Team Members Sponsoring Teachers Project Advisor(s) |
