Challenge Team Abstract
Sonoluminescence occurs when a single, levitated air bubble is made to oscillate by the application of sound waves. It vibrates so violently that it expands to its maximum limit. Then the bubble collapses, resulting in a speck of ultraviolet light charged with a large amount of energy. Unfortunately, since the entire process occurs on such a small scale, the resulting energy is useless to people. The purpose of out team's project is to first determine that peaks of the stages of sonoluminescence by composing a C++ program. Then we will use known testing information of this phenomena in other liquids (at different temperatures from the regularly used water) to attempt to find the most likely compound that will yield a usable energy source. All of the known testing information that will be used in our project is from laboritories of universities that have conducted numerous tests on the subject.
