The purpose of our project is to determine the
point in which virga
happens. Virga is a phenomenon of rain. In Virga, rain clouds are
present and you can see the rain falling but the rain never reaches the
ground. In our project, raindrops will be tested inside a wind tunnel.
In the wind tunnel we will suspend a number of raindrops will be tested
inside a wind tunnel. In the wind tunnel we will suspend a number of
raindrops and test them at certain speeds. We will determine at what
speeds does a raindrop disappear and at what time and of what shape it
is. The use for this data will be for our determination of the time
distance in which virga takes place in our skies.
Our project is where it is today because
of our hard and fast work
and our new mentor. We ran through a time with no mentors until a couple
of weeks ago. We just started this project and we couldn't have even
started it without the help of Barry and Ms. Martinez. We learned that
time is of the essence when doing these kinds of projects.
