    School Name: Bloomfield High School

    Area of Science: Physics

    Project Title: Generation X

Abstract
Interim
Final Report

While working on our project, our team has come to realize that many problems stand in the way. Our team has little motivation, lack of materials, lack of interpretation of our information, and a wide spread communication channel. Our team also has a lack of constructive skills, and we are forced to make a model lacking depth.

Our lack of interpretation skills has hindered our work, and we are still even unsure of how or what we want the supercomputers to compute for us. Relatively speaking, we believe we would like to calculate how much electricity is needed to reverse the effects of a lightning strike, i.e. turn power that was shut off back on. We know that we can not determine exactly how much energy is going to come out of a bolt of lightning until it actually hits the earth. We would like to try to see if we can capture certain amounts in any given test.

A simulated model of lightning is hard to come by for five teenagers. We still don’t have an advisor, so the materials are unavailable for the moment. During Christmas break, we are going to see what we can come up with for materials, and work on putting our model together. We will also study C++ a little more, and prepare a program to build on. Our success has been lacking, but next semester our communication will be posted on a wider scale, and the results should be fruitful.
