Project Title: How structure depends on burn Rate

Abstract
Interim
Final Report

Problem

We want to make models of buildings and see how the structure of building affects the rate at which the building burns.

Plan

We plan to build many buildings differing in structure but same amount of material and light them on fire and time how long it takes for the building to collapse of completely burn down. We then want to model this on the computer and see if results come out the same as our tests. Then we could maybe construct virtual model of building and test their reliability much faster.

Progress

Our progress at the time is very slow and not very far we hope to get this going more but we don't know much where to start and are having problems finding mentor. We have started to narrow down exactly what we need to do. We also are stuck on how to represent this in C++ but we have got some help in that area. We are starting to work on the models and will be testing things out soon. We are hopping to get into competitive but will most likely end up finishing everything.

Expected results

We really have no idea what to expect and how much the structure will affect the burn rate but we will give it a shot. We hope that we will be able to show the most structurally sound and fire safe structure as well economically sound.

Goals

Our goal is to find the safest building to be in we a fire is started in it.
