2000 STTS Information

Stipends

Participating teachers will receive a $250 stipend for attending the week long course. A $100 food allowance will also be provided for meals during the week.

Graduate Credit

Participating teachers will receive one unit (possibly two) of graduate credit from Western New Mexico University through the School of Education.

Location

The Summer Teacher Training Session will begin with a registration session during the late afternoon on the WNMU campus with a reception to follow. Exact times and locations will be announced later.

Text books

Each participant will receive text books to be used as references throughout the Challenge year. Included will be texts concerning Unix, Java programming, and HTML.

Housing

Participants will be housed in the Ritch Dormitories. Participants might each share a dorm room with another STTS student depending upon enrollment. If needed, we are hoping that you can select your partners on Sunday, but the default room assignments will be made in alphabetical order.

Check in will take place from 2-5 PM on Sunday, June 18th, with a reception to follow later in the evening. Checkout will take place from 4-6 PM on Friday, June 23rd.

Linens are not provided. Bring bedding, pillow(s), towels, etc. If you plan to swim or you're a generous towel consumer, please bring extras! Coin-operated vending and laundry machines are available in the Ritch Dormitories. A TV lounge is also located within the dorms.

Dining

A buffet style dining hall and retail food service operation are located on the second and third floors of the Memorial Center Building.

  • Breakfast 7:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.
  • Lunch 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
  • Dinner 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Gymnasium and Pool

Within the P.E. Complex students will be able to use an indoor swimming pool, weight room, racquetball courts, and gymnasium. These are located within the Brancheau P.E. Building and Graham Gymnasium.
