How long will our natural resources last?

Team: 1

School: ACADEMY FOR TECH & CLASSICS

Area of Science: Environmental Science

Proposal: The intention of our project is to calculate the amount of time that the human race will be able to continue consuming natural resources at our present rate, without significant and obvious consequence. We will take into consideration factors such as: gas prices, types of cars people buy, population and technological progress. We will first use a model to estimate how long the resources would last if none of those factors change. We will then construct a model in which we will take population growth, technological progress, etc.. into acount. We will also gather information about how our data could be changed based on alternative energy sources and energy conservation. Our overall goal is to end up with data that will increase people's awareness of how serious and pressing the problems of global Warming and natural resource depletion are.
To process the data we will use C++, and to visualize we will use Excel and a simple programming language caled Blitz Basic.
