Autonomous Air Traffic Control

Team: 49

School: LAS CRUCES HIGH

Area of Science: Engineering

Proposal:

Autonomous Air Traffic Control

The purpose of this project is to construct a program which coordinates the simulation of air traffic: directing the control of air traffic, such as scheduling flights and making necessary detours, scheduling the landing and takeoff time frames for pilots to operate in, and in doing so: eventually model larger systems such as those employed in everyday use at airports, which can highlight errors in the system and based upon those errors construe solutions and alternatives to alleviate the stress and backlogs at airports, and thus create more efficient air transportation systems. As of yet the team has not decided upon the exact nature of the program. The basic fundamentals of the program have been drawn up by the team, however. Thus far, the team has agreed to use Java NetBeans(R) SunMicrosystems as the base language. The team has not fully reached a conclusion on how the team shall arrive at the graphical representation of the project, whether it be java graphics or a separate StarLogo program.
