River changes and the effect on environment

Team: 55

School: LOS ALAMOS HIGH

Area of Science: environmental

Proposal: Problem -
Many farmers and tribal groups, and animals depend largely on the river source and many times droughts and floods come unexpectedly, so therefore farming, and envronmental development is difficult to be efficient in.

Purpose -
the purpose of this model is to help farmers and tribes men to be able to predict better the river's course of action so that understanding animal patterns and movements are easier to predict.

Plan of action -
The team plans to use either starlogo or java as a coding language to model the issue. The program will prompt for the starting and finishing date, which types of animals to include and how many of each, number of tribesmen, and then will prompt for the average river size to help predict the outcome of the river at the later date, how many animals are left and the interaction between animals and tribes men. Each animal, tribesmen, and river will have a set behavior that will generate an outcome that will help farmers and tribesmen to predict the end result of number of animals and river size.
