New Mexico is a majority minority state with considerable diversity in its student population. The Supercomputing Challenge makes an effort to attract students from across the spectrum including minorities and women. New Mexico also is one of the top two states in per capita PhDs. The Challenge seeks to leverage volunteers from national labs and high tech companies to mentor students and better prepare them for success in college. Colleges that register with the Supercomputing Challenge have the opportunity to advertise with the Challenge, access the descriptions students enter as to what they are looking for in a college, and communicate with sophomore and older students associated with the Challenge.
