The Future of the Supercomputing Challenge

Message to Supercomputing Challenge supporters, February 26, 2024:

The Supercomputing Challenge is proud of its 34-year record of success, inspiring 12,000 students and teachers in STEM topics and having the support of 150 volunteers to provide a real learning community for the next generation.

The Supercomputing Challenge Board of Directors, at the December 14, 2023 meeting, reluctantly voted to end the Supercomputing Challenge after the April 2024 Expo and Awards Ceremony due to the anticipated lack of funding. At this time, we expect that there will not be a 2024-25 Supercomputing Challenge. We don’t want to start the Challenge year if we don’t think we can finish the year properly. If new/additional funding sources can be acquired in the next five months, the board will revisit the decision and the structure of the Challenge.  If you would be interested in being on a fundraising committee or if you have ideas for funding or have questions, please contact consult@supercomputingchallenge.org.

The Challenge staff is committed to the students and teachers that are in this year’s Challenge and will continue to give all our efforts to make this last year a great one.
