Title: Low-Cost Raspberry Pi & ML method for Microplastic Classification and Drug Interaction via MOF/LFA

Microplastic contamination has become a significant environmental and public health concern, with some research indicating potential interactions between microplastics and pharmaceutical drugs.

The goal of my project is to develop a low-cost AI system using Raspberry-pi to classify different types of microplastics and their interaction with common medicines/pharmaceutical drugs people take daily. This is a continuation project from last year where I used NetLogo and Molecular Operating Environment (MOE) simulation softwares and demonstrated a binding of polyethylene (PE) and polystyrene (PS) with ciprofloxacin. This year, I plan to use Raspberry-pi connected to camera module 2 and machine learning based classification to identify different types of microplastics and to take close-up pictures of color differences of different plastics on Metal organic framework (MOF) or Lateral flow assays(LFA). I will test if MOFs/LFA can be used to trap and/or react with these drug molecules, and they can cause change in color or surface changes when this happens (with or without microplastics).

( I am looking for a mentor/mentors to help me with this project)
