Our project idea is to try our best to solve the game Viking Chess, less commonly known as Hnefatafl. We would do this in Python by trying to make something similar to a Chess engine such as Stockfish, but for Viking Chess. We could change what the bot sees as a good position for either side as the independent variable, with the end goal being to see if we can find a solution to Viking Chess. There are different levels of how solved a game can be, but we would be going for a weak or strong solution, and possibly make a Viking Chess bot you can play against. I have a decent understanding about how a Chess bot works, and we can research more about it as we continue. I have had an interest in making a Chess engine for a while, and this seems like a similar idea while still being its own thing.
