During the Pandemic, the world went into quarantine, and global trade came to a grinding halt. It had devastating effects on the economy, schools, local communities and businesses, human connections, but it might have saved several thousands of lives. We don’t know what we should’ve done, which is a pretty big problem considering that this isn’t the first worldwide pandemic we’ve had in history, and it won’t be the last. For my project I’d like to try and simulate a Covid-like virus in America (or just Albuquerque if the scale gets too large) where each citizen has their own priorities and lives based on the demographics of said region, using agent based modeling. I would also measure other things like temperature, healthcare, etc, and use that to make a broad set of variables that I could fine tune for each area, with a virus that spreads with covid like symptoms and adaptations. I would have a quarantine that has unchanging agents with different priorities and a virus, and adjust the functions of that virus until the result I get is very close to what the actual deaths/infections were during our covid, then I would release that virus into a world that didn’t go into quarantine with agents with different priorities, and see how it would react.
