Proposal: How can Albuquerque’s Streets be designed to be more efficient, effective, and economical? Creating more efficient roads can increase the productivity of people in Albuquerque, and reduce the use of fossil fuel. This model can hopefully be applied to other cities as well. It is also important that we design roads to reduce gas usage which will save money and reduce greenhouse gasses. I plan to answer this question by creating a model of Albuquerque’s streets and testing how to optimize certain metrics. These metrics include the average length of drive, average speed of a drive, and total use of gas for the city. I can then change factors such as add/remove roads, change speed limits, change timing and placement of streetlights, and more, in order to see what creates the most efficient system. Expected results new designs for Albuquerque's road that optimize different aspects of transit.
