Plutonium- behavior and effect

Area of Science: Chemistry

Proposal: The problem we are trying to solve is plutonium travelling and sticking to surfaces which results in nuclear demolition cleanup workers having contaminated vehicles/gear which can lead to many health problems.

This project can help by creating a model that can be applied in a real life scenario (such as the Hanford open-air demolition cleanup) therefore helping cleanup workers avoid coming in contact with Plutonium.

We believe this project will be best modeled in Netlogo by first researching how Plutonium travels and catches to surfaces by studying its many properties and other tendencies of radioactive elements. Then we will work on translating said tendencies into code.
