The Definition of the Problem: Our project will be informing you about how climate change is impacting the survival of Arctic life, specifically Polar Bears. This proposal will also introduce ways we can slow down climate change to help animal life. With our project we are hoping to change or even just help inform and change the world. If you are interested in helping directly you can share or donate to, https://polarbearsinternational.org, anything helps.

The Purpose of the Project: There are so many reasons as to why climate change is affecting the life of polar bears today, but we will be focusing on how it is affecting their climate. Studies show that over the past century the world's temperature has risen about 3.5 degrees fahrenheit. Though that doesn’t sound like a lot, it can and has already started detrimental effects to our environment. Those effects may include heatwaves, storms, droughts, and the most relevant to our project, the Arctic. Major changes in the Arctic may be different weather patterns, causing plants to bloom faster causing them to also die faster. It may also cause Arctic animals to go out of hibernation faster causing the whole ecosystem to falter. Most importantly the higher heat can cause the snow to melt then freeze making it hard for animals to gather food and make shelter. According to https://www.worldwildlife.org, the population of polar bears has decreased a tragic 40% between 2001 and 2010. A substantial reason 40% of the polar bear population is jeopardized is climate change. So to help the overall survival of polar bears caused by climate change we plan to pitch ideas, even if it helps a little.

Plan of Action: We plan to help change the decreasing population of Polar Bears caused by climate change by initiating a project studying the dramatic decrease in polars bears . A leading cause of the climate change in the Arctic is called the Albedo effect. The Albedo effect is basically when a surface reflects sunlight back into the atmosphere. A place with a lot of light colored surfaces can be considered high Albedo, like the Arctic. Unfortunately, that is not something that can be helped considering it is naturally part of the world. A way we can help climate change that is affecting the living conditions of the polar bear species is by using renewable resources. Those may include, renewable energy, buying appliances that do not use as much energy, reducing water waste, and so much more. For this project our group is going to use the app Netlogo for
